![]() ![]() You might want to consider including an audio player on your site. Could this be because of something in my Firefox preference settings, or is this normal? As a general browser I prefer Firefox, but perhaps Safari is better for playing web sound files - just my ill-informed guess. However, I've noticed that the Safari controls for playing these seem to be better and give more info (timing etc) than the Firefox ones. Firefox does now seem to be handling the sound clips correctly. I might be wrong, but I think it depends on what version of Firefox you're running.Amazing! I clicked on 'about Firefox' to see which version I had and it promptly decided to download and install version 8.0. ![]() Macbook Pro OSX 10.6.6, 2.66GHz Intel Core i7, 8 GB RAM Unfortunately this doesn't help me with other people viewing my website who don't have that Firefox version installed. I manually update to Firefox version 7.0.1 and now it works again. Then after one of the Firefox updates, the player controls didn't appear at all. The audio clips always played without any problem. I've seen this same issue, even on my own website. I might be wrong, but I think it depends on what version of Firefox you're running. (In case anyone wants to see if they get the same error message in Firefox, the extended sound clips are from Beyond the Far Haaf, The Snow Queen and the second clip from A Full Moon in March.) My only worry is that other people may get the same error message and be discouraged from proceeding, so I would quite like to get to the bottom of this. I had wanted to get a screenshot, but as is the way with these things, when I do want the error message it's not appearing. On other occasions, I get an error message about a missing plug-in for a version of QuickTime Player I don't have installed anyway.ĭoes anyone know what this message might mean? The thing is, that I find my end I can play these immediately and correctly in Safari (despite my own somewhat slower and vaguely erratic broadband here in rural Northern Scotland), but in Firefox they only work sometimes. Since so many people now have reliable high speed broadband, we have just put three quite substantial sound clips on my web-site together with the old one or two minute ones.
