![]() ![]() Today I am gonna review the photofocus concealer. This is definitely a foundation that I will repurchase.Wet n Wild is hands down one of the best drugstore brand in the beauty industry and its products never fail to amaze me. I love when makeup ticks all the boxes, even more so when it's so budget-friendly. Matte foundations and dry skin are a difficult association but not impossible and Wetnwild Photo Focus absolutely got it. ![]() Out of the three products in the range, I was definitely impressed by the foundation the most. On my dry skin, it works wonders, but I couldn't say if it would suit a combination or oily skin. It doesn't stock into my fine lines, it makes my pores look less evident, definitely a thumbs up. It is mattifying but it doesn't dry out my skin as other powders do. The powder is translucent, very lightweight and nearly imperceptible, but leaves the skin looking super velvety. I then used a trick: I picked up the surface powder with a bit of scotch tape, and tadaaaa! the powder beneath was perfectly fine and I could use it. The powder was definitely too hardly pressed. ![]() ![]() In fact, at first, I thought I got a dude compact as I couldn't pick up the powder with any of my best powder brushes. On my first impression, this product left me perplexed. In my last picture above you can see my face wearing the foundation with natural daylight and a flash directed to my face only 40 cm apart from me and there is no trace of flashback! Of course, I've also tested the "no flash-back" claim. You can see on my pictures above that my neck and face match perfectly! I see lots of makeup artist do this with the foundations, and when a product is so budget-friendly I don't mind getting two shades and mix them. So, I like to add a tiny drop of the shade " Soft beige" and mix it to "Soft Ivory" to obtain my perfect match. All the other shades are too dark or not the right undertone for me. The lightest shade, " Soft Ivory", is my closest match, but just a tad too light for me, so that it makes me look a big "ghastly". I usually match my foundation to my neck and decolleté as my face has redness and hyperpigmentation and usually appears darker than the rest. I've received all five shades available, but none of them was a perfect match for me. Beauties with oily or combination skin should try by themselves). (Please, do note that I have dry skin, I never get a shine on my face in Fall weather, even less so if I'm wearing a matte foundation and powder on top. The Photo Focus foundation wears very well on me, I had it on for 12+ hours and it still looked perfect. I'd say that it does a pretty good job blurring and giving a soft focus appearance to my skin especially on pictures. It sets to a matte but natural finish that doesn't bring out my wrinkles or imperfections. In the picture above you can see the difference under my eyes: my bare skin on the left vs. I don't use it over my melasma, because as you can see that is really dark and needs colour correction, so there I apply a colour corrector instead. I apply in the under-eye area, to conceal my dark circles and brighten that part. I've received two of the fours shades available: Light Ivory and Light/Med Beige, the lightest one is the best match for me. I admit I would appreciate a little more coverage given my melasma, but for a normal case of dark eye circles, this would perfectly do the job. I love that the formulation is very lightweight and it doesn't show cakey, even several hours after application it doesn't crease. It sets to a matte finish and it has a medium coverage. It has a medium coverage that instantly brightens my undereye area. The Photo focus concealer has a creamy consistency and a doe foot applicator that I really like.
